this just spoke to me in so many ways...from what it feels like to be so isolated(solitary) and the judgement and moving away in some cases from friends and family. i think this writer is so right on...this piece just touched my heart.
It can be hard to feel we are experiencing loss on top of loss by now having the disapproval of family and friends because we are taking THIS moment. It can be hard to face that in the name of "love" and "relationship," they want us to return to some pre-death normal instead of being who we are now. Those prescriptions for our "healing" feel like prison sentences, not like help or guidance. And often family and friends implicitly or explicitly tell us we must "move on" or "get over it" in order to stay in relationship with them. Conditional love. Even with all we know about how precious life and THIS moment is now, it can be very hard to say, "I will not meet your conditions, but instead must feel my solitary being in desolate land, instead must feel my solitary landscape become a solitary fantasy for creating a new life for myself." And then watch the other be mad, or walk away from us, or be judgmental, or shun us. It IS loss upon loss. And sometimes that is part of the desolate landscape.
could never have found a way to say it so beautifully. i ma just in awe.
